Student loans are federally guaranteed loans that offer:

Low interest rates — Much lower than credit cards and other consumer credit.
Deferment — Most student loans don't have to be repaid until after you graduate.
No prepayment penalties
Consolidation — Most student loans can be consolidated after graduation into one loan,
with a single payment.
