Section 4: The Student Aid Report

Copies of the SAR are mailed:

To you — Check the SAR carefully. If it is incorrect, submit corrections online at FAFSA Corrections on the Web or through your school's Financial Aid Office.
To each school listed on the FAFSA — Schools use the SAR to determine how much aid you should receive.

The amount of money you can get is figured like this:

Cost of Attendance (tuition, books, and fees)
Minus Expected Family Contribution (what your family must
pay toward college costs)
Equals The amount of aid you can receive
